Features

In the Features tab you activate or deactivate the features of your wiki. These settings affect what users can do with the wiki and what information is displayed.

The basic features for your wiki.

What it does: Makes the entire wiki module visible to users.

How to find it: Features > Core Features > Wiki Enabled

Options:

Default: Off


What it does: Allows users to search wiki articles.

How to find it: Features > Core Features > Enable Search

Options:

OnSearch field is displayed, articles can be searched
OffNo search possible

What changes when enabled:

  • The search field appears in the wiki
  • Users can search by title, content and tags
  • Search results are sorted by relevance

What it does: Enables organizing articles into categories.

How to find it: Features > Core Features > Enable Categories

Options:

OnArticles can be assigned to categories
OffNo categories, all articles on one level

Default: On

What changes when enabled:

  • Category headers are displayed
  • Articles can be filtered
  • The tree layout shows the category hierarchy

What it does: Enables tagging articles with keywords.

How to find it: Features > Core Features > Enable Tags

What changes when enabled:

  • Tag badges are displayed on articles
  • Users can filter by tags
  • Tags appear in search

Features for navigation within the wiki.

What it does: Automatically generates a table of contents from article headings.

How to find it: Features > Navigation > Enable Table of Contents

What it does: Shows a navigation path (breadcrumbs) to the current page.

How to find it: Features > Navigation > Enable Breadcrumbs

What it does: Shows related articles at the end of an article.

How to find it: Features > Navigation > Enable Related Articles

Features for displaying meta information.

What it does: Shows the estimated reading time for each article.

How to find it: Features > Display > Show Reading Time

Options:

What it does: Shows the date of the last change.

How to find it: Features > Display > Show Last Update

Options:

What it does: Shows the author of the article.

How to find it: Features > Display > Show Author

Options:

OnAuthor name (and optionally avatar) is displayed

What it does: Shows the number of articles per category.

How to find it: Features > Display > Show Article Count

Options:

OnCount is displayed for categories (e.g. “Documentation (12)“)

What it does: Displays articles marked as “Featured” first.

How to find it: Features > Display > Featured First

What it does: Shows categories expanded by default (in tree layout).

How to find it: Features > Display > Categories Expanded

Features for user actions on articles.

What it does: Saves the change history for articles.

How to find it: Features > Actions > Enable Version History

Options:

What it does: Allows users to mark articles as favorites.

How to find it: Features > Actions > Enable Favorites

Options:

What it does: Shows a share button on articles.

How to find it: Features > Actions > Enable Sharing

Limits for the wiki module.

What it does: The maximum number of articles that can be created.

How to find it: Features > Limits > Max Articles

Value range: 10 to 1000 (step size 10)

Default: 500


What it does: The maximum number of categories.

How to find it: Features > Limits > Max Categories

Value range: 5 to 100

Default: 50


What it does: The maximum number of different tags.

How to find it: Features > Limits > Max Tags

Value range: 10 to 500 (step size 10)

Default: 100


What it does: How many versions of an article are saved.

How to find it: Features > Limits > Max Revisions

Value range: 5 to 100

Default: 50


What it does: How many articles are displayed on the homepage under “Recent”.

How to find it: Features > Limits > Number of Recent Articles

Value range: 5 to 50

Default: 10

The wiki is disabled by default. Enable “Wiki enabled” in the Features tab.

It depends on your use case:

  • Documentation: Search, Categories, Table of Contents, Version History
  • FAQ: Search, Categories
  • Knowledge Base: All features

Yes, when creating an article you can mark it as “inactive”. Inactive articles are not visible to users.

  • Article limit: No new articles possible until existing ones are deleted
  • Revision limit: Oldest revisions are automatically deleted
