Forum Editor

The Forum Editor gives you full control over your app’s community forum. You determine how categories and threads look, which features are active, and how moderation works.

The editor is divided into six areas (tabs):

  1. Open Edit Mode in your app (App Builder Tools)
  2. Go to Module & Features
  3. Tap on Forum and then on Edit or Forum Editor
  4. The editor opens with the six tabs

At the top, you’ll find six tabs that you can switch between by tapping or swiping:

TabWhat you configure here
LayoutThread view, category design, sorting, colors, and font sizes
Thread DetailDetail page layout, reply style, avatar position, OP highlighting
FeaturesVoting system, tags, attachments, bookmarks, sharing, rich text
RepliesInput style, editor type, toolbar features, media uploads
AccessGuest access, login requirements, post requirements, rate limiting
ModerationApprovals, word filters, spam protection, auto-lock, content limits

In the Layout tab, you can configure separate colors for Light and Dark Mode:

  1. Open the Layout tab
  2. Scroll to the Colors section
  3. Use the toggle at the top to switch between Light Mode and Dark Mode
  4. Adjust the colors for each mode

All changes are saved automatically. You don’t need to do anything extra - as soon as you make a change, it’s saved in the ISAR database and takes effect immediately.

Categories organize your forum into thematic areas. Each thread belongs to exactly one category.

  • Categories are managed in the Admin Area (not in the editor)
  • You can set the name, description, icon, and color for each category
  • Categories can be activated/deactivated

A thread is a discussion on a topic. It has a title, content, and can receive replies.

Replies are posts within a thread. Depending on the configuration, they can:

  • Be nested (replies to replies)
  • Be rated (upvote/downvote or like)
  • Be marked as a solution

If you want to reset all settings:

  1. Tap the Reset icon in the top right
  2. Confirm the warning
  3. All settings will be reset to default values

Changes are saved automatically! As soon as you make a change, it’s saved in the ISAR database.

Categories are managed in the Admin area, not in the editor. Go to Admin > Forum > Categories.

  • Upvote/Downvote: For technical forums, Q&A, feedback (like Reddit/StackOverflow)
  • Likes Only: For community discussions, social features (like Instagram)
  • Disabled: For purely informational forums without rating

Can I make the forum accessible to guests?

Section titled “Can I make the forum accessible to guests?”

Yes! In the Access tab, you can set whether guests can read and list threads. However, posting always requires a login.

When enabled, the thread creator can mark a reply as “solution.” This is then highlighted and the thread is marked as “solved.” Ideal for support forums.
